About the event
IRNA is excited to coordinate this year's Indian River County BioBlitz, part of the Indian River Biodiversity Initiative during the week of April 19th.
Join Friends of St Sebastian River and IRNA at South Prong Preserve as we explore the lush, vibrant landscapes of Florida's preserved natural habitats and document the plants and animals that call it home during this year’s BioBlitz on April 23 at 9:00am. REGISTRATION is strongly suggested. The South Prong Preserve is an Indian River County Conservation Lands property and is located at 7780 85th Street, on the north side of route 510, located about 3+ miles west of US 1, and one mile west of 70th Ave.
The BioBlitz is a community science event where students, families, and community members document local plants and wildlife using iNaturalist, a free, family-friendly platform used by scientists and educators.
These events are a fun, hands-on way to:
Learn about science in your local environment
Contribute real data used by researchers and conservation planners
Build environmental literacy and stewardship
See your local ecosystem as a living, connected community
Participants should have the iNaturalist app downloaded on their phone with an account created prior to arrival. Bonus points if you find "Indian River BioBlitz" in the projects tab!
