About the event

The Environmental Learning Center (ELC) is participating in the Indian River County BioBlitz, part of the Indian River Biodiversity Initiative, coordinated by the Indian River Neighborhood Association during the week of April 19th.

Join the Environmental Learning Center as they explore their campus and document the plants and animals that call it home during this year’s BioBlitz on April 20th from 2:30- 4PM. REGISTRATION is required: https://www.discoverelc.org/bioblitz/

The BioBlitz is a community science event where students, families, and community members document local plants and wildlife using iNaturalist, a free, family-friendly platform used by scientists and educators.

These events are a fun, hands-on way to:

  • Learn about science in your local environment

  • Contribute real data used by researchers and conservation planners

  • Build environmental literacy and stewardship

  • See your local ecosystem as a living, connected community

Participants should have the iNaturalist app downloaded on their phone with an account created prior to arrival.
